Jane CroninJane Cronin has lived in Spain since 1988, moving to San Pedro del Pinatar, Murcia in 2001. She was the founder and director of Cronin School English in Llanes, Asturias for 11 years, during which time she taught English as a foreign language at all levels.

She was the team leader for upper suite (advanced) UCLES oral examiners for the region of Asturias for three years and also worked as a regular teacher trainer for Longman and Oxford University Press.

Since 2002 Jane has worked as a Spanish teacher and produced three Spanish teaching DVDs, two CDs and a book about Spanish language and culture. In September 2007 she opened a dedicated language school in San Pedro del Pinatar, teaching both Spanish and English and organizing cultural trips to northern Spain. Jane has worked with all forms of media on the Costa Blanca, including the writing and presentation of five series on local English television entitled “Spanish lessons Sol style”. www.solproductions.tv, and a regular article in The Leader newspaper www.costablancaleader.com. She is a regular speaker at clubs for English speaking residents and was founder of the Crossroads Club in 2003, of which she was president for three and a half years.

Jane was a founder member of Toastmasters International Levante in 2004 and was club president 2006/07. In November 2005 she won third prize in the prestigious Toastmasters International European Humorous Speech competition. www.toastmasters.org

In November 2007 Jane was awarded the title “Company Woman of the Year 2007” by the business association Company Women. www.companywomen.org

Since 2005 Jane has been teaching Survival Spanish to large audiences of English speaking residents in coordination with the town hall of Torrevieja, Alicante, and in San Pedro del Pinatar. In December 2007 Jane wrote and starred in her own stand-up comedy routine “Not Mentioned in the Brochure” – a hilarious look at ex-pat life in Spain.

As well as current teaching and speaking commitments, Jane has a regular weekly article in the Round Town News and Costa Blanca News.  She is also founder and president of ADAPT (the association of English speakers of San Pedro del Pinatar) an association dedicated to the well-being of English speaking people and their integration into the local community.
